Greg Hoglund
Chief Executive Officer

Greg Hoglund is an acknowledged expert and pioneer in software security and a successful entrepreneur. In addition to HBGary, Greg also co-founded network security companies Cenzic, Inc., and Bugscan, which was acquired in 2004. He holds two patents and has numerous patents pending. Greg has authored several books on security topics, including the best selling "Rootkits - Subverting the Windows Kernel", "Exploiting Software", and "Exploiting Online Games - Cheating Massively Distributed Systems". His current company, HBGary, Inc., develops security software that is the defacto-standard for enterprise incident response and APT malware analysis.

Penny Leavy
President

Penny Leavy co-founded Cenzic (formerly known as ClickToSecure, Inc.) with Greg Hoglund. She formulated Cenzic's basic business structure, assembled a solid executive team and helped secure financing from top-tier venture capital firms during a tight economy. Previously, she helped FTP Software build a distribution network of over 500 OEM and channel partners, and open several international sales offices, growing sales from $3 million to $140 million. Penny was also instrumental in repositioning Finjan Software as a leading corporate-security provider, negotiating major contracts with IBM, Intel and Cisco. And she developed an aggressive product strategy that resulted in increased visibility and revenues for the computer security company Tripwire.

Bob Slapnik
Vice President of Worldwide Sales

Bob Slapnik has a track record of successful sales management in Fortune 1000 and federal government accounts. He was president of Network Test Solutions, a channel sales organization serving the needs of network test labs with a wide range of tools for security and performance testing. He was President of Chesapeake Capital Corp. which arranged financing for commercial real estate and businesses. Bob has also held various sales and marketing positions with NetIQ, Antara, Sequent Computer Systems and Hewlett Packard. Bob has a Masters of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, both from Kent State University.

Rich Cummings
Chief Technology Officer

Mr. Cummings is the Chief Technology Officer at HBGary, Inc. where he leads the strategic vision, product development initiatives and go-to-market strategy for HBGary products and services. Rich has almost 30 years of computer experience and has been working to catch cybercriminals for over 12 years. Prior to joining HBGary, Rich was the Director of Security Engineering & Government Solutions at Guidance Software. Prior to Guidance, he was a principal consultant at Network Associates - Attack & Penetration Group and 911 Emergency Response Investigation Team in the late 90's. He is a frequent speaker at key industry, government and other events.

Jim Butterworth
Chief Security Officer

Jim Butterworth is the CSO at HBGary, Inc. Previously, he worked at Guidance Software, where he was the Senior Director of Cyber Security. Exclusively client focused, Jim brings 15 years of "In-the-Trench" experience in computer network operations and incident response with him, having conducted engagements worldwide, in every industry, specializing in Critical Infrastructure Protection and highly sensitive networks. In addition, Jim completed a distinguished and decorated 20 year career as an Electronic Warfare/Cryptologist with the United States Navy. He is the recipient of the Naval Security Group Command Meritorious Service Award, Navy Commendation Medal (Gold Star in lieu of 5th Award), and Navy Achievement Medal (Gold Star in lieu of 5th Award). Jim maintains certification as a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), and holds multiple security industry certifications as Intrusion Analyst, Reverse Engineer, Forensic Examiner and Auditor.

Shawn Bracken
Chief Scientist

Shawn Bracken has been performing cutting edge R&D in the information technology and computer security space for over 15 years. Shawn co-founded HBGary with Greg Hoglund and has been a principal engineer involved in the design, implementation, and delivery of nearly all of HBGarys products and free tools released to date. Shawn is also in charge of HBGary's critical technologies research team which is responsible for constantly evolving HBGary's products and service offerings to consistently stay multiple steps ahead of even the most prolific APT groups.

Barbara Vermilyea
Controller

Barbara has over 20 years of accounting experience as a Controller in various industries. She has been involved in several industries, including manufacturing, software, retail, technology, and financial services. She has managed multimillion-dollar accounting, finance, and revenue operations. An effective leader, Barbara is accomplished in developing accounting financial strategies that enhance organizational growth and maximize sustainability. Her expertise includes budgeting, forecasting, and cash management for optimal growth. Most recently, she founded her own accounting firm in the Sacramento area. Barbara holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and is enrolled in a Masters of Business Association program.
